At DVG JIU JITSU our coaching philosophy is simple; help our students fall in love with Jiu Jitsu. How? By cultivating a culture of fun! When children enjoy training they view learning as fun. We train our students with a long term mindset. Meaning, we know if they have fun they’ll want to keep training. Furthermore, their consistent attendance means growth as a martial artist is inevitable. But first we must inspire them to want to learn. We do this through a variety of different mini games, situational drills, and movements which are designed to help them learn while having fun. In fact, we want children having so much fun that they want to be at the academy with us which means you as the parent won’t have to drag them kicking and screaming and can enjoy watching them enjoy themselves.
We want you to know that your child’s safety is our #1 priority. Obviously there is a bit of risk involved with any contact sport. However, we aim to minimize injuries by teaching our students basics like how to properly fall and what it means to be a good training partner.
Experience has shown that one of the biggest obstacles to learning Jiu Jitsu is students are not introduced to the art in a way that helps them learn to be comfortable with contact. We aim to introduce them to Jiu Jitsu in a way that is graceful and well received.
Moreover, we believe In order to learn to move someone else’s body you must first learn to move your body well. Our classes are designed to equip our students to build the necessary coordination, strength, and movements that are foundational to their success on the mats.
There are several benefits to your child learning Jiu Jitsu;
Improved Physical Health: Increased mobility/flexibility/strength/endurance
Growth in Character: We use Jiu Jitsu as the vehicle in which your child discovers more about themselves and becomes a better version of themselves both on and off the mats along their journey. You can expect them to improve in the following areas; Focus, Discipline, Grit, Strong Work Ethic, Patience, Teamwork, Confidence, Leadership
Safety/Self Defense: Children won’t feel confident standing up for themselves verbally if they know they aren’t able to stand up for themselves physically. You’ll sleep a little better at night knowing your child is better equipped to defend themselves.
We hear stories all the time of children who focus better in school and improve grades... improve behavior at home... and grow up to be happy, successful members of our community.
That's what it's all about and we want your child to be the next success story.
