Will Jiu-Jitsu Teach My Child To Be Aggressive?
At DVG, our primary focus is to teach our students to be calm, controlled, and confident under pressure. Most parents are surprised to see their child become more respectful, disciplined, and in control of their emotions. In fact, many children who struggle with behavior actually become more calm and focused through training.
Can My Child Get Injured While Training Jiu-Jitsu?
Just like any physical activity, there’s always some risk. But safety is our highest priority. We minimize risk by teaching proper falling and movement techniques, and organizing training partners by age and skill level. Our goal is to help your child grow while keeping them safe.
What If My Child Isn’t Athletic?
That’s actually who we’re best for. Jiu-Jitsu isn’t about being naturally athletic—it’s about learning, improving, and growing over time. Many of our students start with no sports background, limited coordination, and low confidence. However, through consistent training, they develop strength, coordination, and confidence. This is where many “non-athletic” kids discover what they’re capable of.
Will My Child Enjoy It? Will They Stick With It?
Yes—and more importantly, they’ll grow through it. Our classes balance focus and discipline with fun and engagement.
Kids laugh, connect, and enjoy training. But they also learn to push through challenges, and keep going when things get hard. That’s why many families stay with us long-term.
Will Jiu-Jitsu Build My Child’s Confidence?
Yes, but not the fake kind. Real confidence comes from facing challenges, solving problems, and acquiring skills.
As your child progresses, they begin to believe: “I can do hard things.” They earn recognition from coaches as they progress through our structured system. Confidence isn’t given here, it’s earned.
What Ages Can Start Training?
We offer programs starting at age 4. Each class is designed to meet your child where they’re at so they can grow at the right pace and build a strong foundation.
Is Jiu-Jitsu For Boys and Girls?
Absolutely. Our classes include both boys and girls, and everyone trains together in a supportive environment.
Jiu-Jitsu teaches skills that benefit every child such as confidence, discipline, self-control, and leadership. These aren’t “boy skills” or “girl skills," they’re life skills. We build calm, disciplined leaders by teaching them to face pressure on purpose.
